How to Get Rid of Cellulite

Cellulite is a common body issue that plagues women of all ages, from all walks of life. Men can sometimes suffer from this problem, but the most common sufferers are indeed women. Before you learn how to get rid of cellulite, it helps to understand exactly what cellulite is. Cellulite is caused by expanding fat tissues that stretch and protrude through fibrous connective tissue, leading to a dimpled appearance that many describe as looking like an orange peel or cottage cheese. This lumpy fat most often appears on the thighs, buttocks and hips but can occur in other areas. It's not just a problem for those who are overweight, either. Even women with perfectly thin, fit bodies can have cellulite.

While no one is completely certain why cellulite forms, there are lots of theories. It's thought that certain people are genetically predisposed to the problem. Other theories include diet, lack of exercise, poor circulation, too much caffeine, alcohol consumption, and smoking. Aging is another potential cause, because the skin thins and weakens as we age. Although girls as young as 14 or so can develop cellulite, it is usually found in adult women who are around 30 years of age or older.

Eliminating cellulite can be difficult. Some doctors will tell you that it's impossible to completely remove cellulite. However, there are ways to reduce the appearance and likelihood of this problem. One way is with a good diet and exercise program. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables, drink plenty of water, avoid caffeine and alcohol, do not smoke, and work out on a regular basis. To enhance the results of your diet and exercise plan, try applying some topical cellulite cream to smooth the skin and help improve its appearance.

You may be wondering how to get rid of cellulite with cosmetic surgery. There are several options. One of the safest and least invasive is Endermologie, which uses a combination of pressure and suction. The results are not permanent, however, and the procedure must be repeated. Some cosmetic surgeons claim to eliminate cellulite via laser light. Others claim that the most effective cosmetic surgery procedure for the elimination of this problem is liposuction. Whether or not to have cosmetic surgery for cellulite is a decision that is highly personal to every woman. When considering treatment options, always go for something you feel comfortable with.
